I’m Maryam Kermanshahani, and I’m part of the SEER Lab in University of Calgary, where we work in the exciting world of XR. I love XR because it blends creativity, technology, and fun to create experiences that feel truly new. Right now, my research focuses on virtual alignment in augmented reality — finding better ways to make virtual objects match, align, and interact with the real world.

I earned my Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, and I’ve worked on projects across desktop, Android, web, and AI.

Outside of coding, I’m usually playing guitar or diving into games. Gaming has always been a huge part of my life — not just playing, but also creating and tinkering with ideas. I love exploring different game worlds. That same curiosity and love for interactive experiences might be what led me to XR in the first place.
