Siqi Xie is a PhD student in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Zhangxing Chen and Dr. Frank Maurer. Siqi’s thesis focuses on applying Immersive Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist the task performance in Reservoir Engineering, such as optimizing well trajectory planning by Virtual Reality (VR) and optimization algorithms. With the background in reservoir simulation, advanced fluid mechanics, heat transfer, VR for Immersive Analytics, and Machine Learning, her long-term goal is to benefit the underground fluid recovery (e.g., geothermal energy, oil and gas) and storage (e.g., hydrogen, CO2 for carbon storage in CCUS) workflow by exploiting human decision and computing assistance.
